Local history, attractions

Open seasonally, Mill Creek MetroParks operates a 400-acre working farm to promotes agriculture through educational programming, tours, display areas, and a children’s playroom. Visitors can see the animals in the display barn, take a tractor-wagon tour through the farm, learn about agriculture in the hands-on AgVenture barn and children’s playroom and participate in scheduled activities. Call the MetroParks Farm at 330-533-7572 for facility hours and educational programs. Group tours are by appointment only.

Rental facilities at the Farm include a classroom and McMahon Hall, an all-purpose room for year-round use. McMahon Hall has a full kitchen and can accommodate up to 160 people (dining seating) and 250 people (seminar seating).

Extensions of the ride

The Northern end of the trail connects seamlessly with the Niles Greenway trail.

Development plans

This trail is part of the Great Ohio Lake-to-River Greenway. There are plans to connect it to the north with the Western Reserve Greenway trail and to the south with the Little Beaver Greenway trail.

Access points

Vicinity: Directions begin on OH 11 near Canfield, Ohio at exit 34. To reach this point from Pittsburgh, take the Parkway West/I376N, take the 22/30 exit and follow US 30 to East Liverpool. As you cross the Ohio River, follow OH 11 North.

MetroParks Farm trailhead: On OH 11 take exit 34. Follow signs to US 224 West. Go about 1.2 miles and turn left/south onto S Broad St/OH 46. In 0.8 miles follow OH 46 as it joins OH 446 by turning left/south. Go another 0.2 miles to the MetroParks Farm parking lot on your right. The trail head is located in the far right corner of the parking lot.

ODOT lot, US 224, Weekends only: On OH 11 take exit 34. Follow signs to US 224 West. Go about 2.0 miles. Shortly after crossing Railroad Street/Cardinal Drive and just before crossing the trail, the ODOT parking lot will be on your left. This trailhead is only available on the weekends.

Kirk Road Trailhead: On OH 11 take exit 34. Follow signs to US 224 West. Go 1.2 miles and turn right/north onto S Broad St/OH 46. Go 3.1 miles and turn left/west onto Kirk Rd. Go 1.4 miles, just after crossing the trail, the parking lot will be on your left.

Mahoning Avenue Trailhead: On US 11 take exit 39. Follow signs to Austintown/west. Go 2.0 miles, just after crossing the trail, turn right/north onto Harold Street. There is diagonal parking along Herald Street, between the street and the trail.
